Multiprocessor Based Architecture for Controlled Switching of Circuit Breaker

Circuit Breaker is one of the most critical elements of power industry. Controlled Switching of grid voltage and grid current is the best solution to prevent the high inrush current and over voltages. This paper describes the Controlled Switching of Circuit Breaker by using multiprocessor based architecture. With this architecture early detection of most of major fault is feasible; it is also possible to monitor most of the critical parts, which affects the contacts of circuit breaker, with single system. The developed system also includes features such as oscillographic data storage, real time fault analysis, event information and Alarm. The design of multiprocessor hardware architecture to achieve the point on wave switching has also been described in this paper.
